It’s really easy to make and a good antidote for excess Vata, especially in the head. All Vata types will know that spaced out anxious feeling where their head just doesn’t feel right. Well brahmi ghee is a great medicine, taken alongside a Vata balancing diet and lifestyle.
The recommendation is to make a drink with 1/2 teaspoon brahmi powder in a mug of hot water three times a day. Let it sit for 10 minutes then drink. At the same time use about 3 drops of brahmi ghee in each nostril in the morning – nasya with medicated ghee (you can use different herbs to medicate ghee, depending on your need – so much cheaper than buying them.
To make brahmi ghee take 3 teaspoons brahmi powder and add to 1 cup of water. Bring to boil then fast simmer for 5 minutes. Strain this through muslin then add to 1 cup of ghee and boil off the water as you would when boiling off the water content of butter for making ghee.
Pop into a pipette bottle and wait until it has cooled right down before putting on lid otherwise moisture will go back into the ghee. It will turn solid unless really warm, just place the bottle in warm water to melt, so that you can put a couple of drops into each nostril.
