This is simple but soooo soothing when we move from summer to autumn – I used the last of the figs from out back last autumn.

This porridge is warm, cosy, and completely sattvic – sattvic food is nourishing, it replenishes your tissues and calms your mind. It’s also a good option if you don’t have much time in the morning.

All dosha types can eat this in the autumn/winter unless Kapha is out of balance then use millet or buckwheat, swap the figs for blueberries and replace the maple syrup with a little honey.

INGREDIENTS (per person)

2 cups cooked oatmeal

1 fresh fig

1/4 cup stewed apple

1/2 cup toasted flakes almonds

1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

1 tablespoon maple syrup (Kapha types just use a drizzle or swap for honey)

METHOD

Bring all the ingredients together in a bowl.

Cherry & cinnamon mascapone tart
Yellow courgette hummus
